H2 tags : Thought for Life On Sunday 26th June we celebrated the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ. Christ left us this memorial of His Passion to bring us His saving presence until the end of time. He comes to us in the Eucharist with His transforming, life-giving Spirit. And when we welcome Him into our lives wholeheartedly, we "become what we receive": we are formed into His Body. "The blessing-cup that we bless is a communion with the blood of Christ, and the bread that we break is a communion with the body of Christ." (I Corinthians 10:16) Sharing the life of Christ also involves sharing His mission, putting ourselves at His service. In the words of St. Teresa of Avila: Christ has no body now on earth but yours, no feet but yours, no hands but yours. Yours are the eyes through which the compassion of Christ is to look out on a hurting world. Yours are the feet with which he is to go about doing good. Yours are the hands with which he is to bless all now. May the Risen Christ make His presence felt in our lives as He continues His saving work in us and among us and through us. Amen.; |
